Bringing Extensive Emergency Medicine Experience to Rural Communities

Steve grew up in New Hampshire and was the first in his family to venture out in search of new opportunities. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Greek Studies from Southeastern University in Florida, then completed his Physician Assistant training at Emory University in Atlanta.

Prior to Medical training, he worked as a nursing assistant in surgery and an ER Tech in Thomasville, Georgia. Upon graduating Emory University, Steve served an underserved community in Española, New Mexico, where he discovered the power of better listening and caring for patients with strong local cultural roots. In 2004, he moved to the Denver metro area and joined the emergency medicine team at four hospitals in the St. Anthony system—including Level I, II, and III trauma centers—gaining experience across both mountain and urban settings. That broad background set the stage for his later move into critical-access medicine.

Steve’s passion for service also led him to Negritos, Peru, through a long-term partnership with a nonprofit organization. There, he helped coordinate mission teams to build home additions, install water-purification and storage systems, and bring healthcare to one of the region’s poorest communities. He learned firsthand that true impact comes from working with communities— honoring their strengths, walking alongside them, and supporting their vision.

In 2019, Steve became a founding partner of the staffing group that now supports the Goodland and Atwood facilities. He’s embraced rural medicine for its unique challenges and meaningful impact—where every shift matters, and providers are deeply connected to the community they serve.

Now regularly working in Goodland, Steve values the region’s strong sense of community, shared values, and caring people. He strives to bring the same high level of care found in larger centers—yet delivered with the personal touch local patients deserve. To stay current, he keeps up with advances in emergency medicine and brings that knowledge back to his work here.

Outside of his professional role, Steve loves being outdoors—hiking, snowboarding, camping, and jumping off cliffs (into water!). Travel to the mountains, oceans and other countries brings him life. He’s trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2015 and earned his black belt in July 2025; today he enjoys both training and coaching this discipline. He is the proud father of two young adult daughters thriving in arts and education, and he is recently engaged—looking forward to the next chapter with his fiancée, who has been a source of inspiration, a definition of beauty and a true partner in his life.
